If these are your reasons for being afraid of the big bad fitness wolf, we hear you and please read on.
NOTE: Pictures are Google'd and does NOT reflect the people in CrossFit 399.
1. GO HARD OR GO HOME.
SPOILER ALERT: We are NOT training to be in the CrossFit Games. We train for health and fitness.
2. TOO DIFFICULT.
SPOILER ALERT: Everyone who enters our gym takes baby steps to get to where they are today. Get started with our On-Ramp course!
3. HOT-LOOKING PEOPLE.
SPOILER ALERT: Fitness models do not train in our gym, however if you do encounter someone who looks like them, be sure to give them a hi-five because I bet it was a long and hard journey for them to look the way they look.
4. TOO MUCH MUSCLE FOR A GIRL.
Firstly, we do not body shame. And, SPOILER ALERT! Our training recommendation is one CrossFit workout a day and to eat quality real food, for longevity in health and fitness. You may see significant improvements in your body composition (fat loss, muscle gain) by following our training method but unfortunately we do not have the secret sauce to muscle bulking or testosterone-enhancing.
5. TOO OLD.
We are not sure what is considered an old age here. We have people of all ages calling themselves old; from the 20-somethings till the 50-somethings. You can only be old and brittle if you allow yourselves to be old and brittle. Currently, our most matured member is 63 years young.
6. NO PAIN NO GAIN/ GETTING INJURED.
You will only get injured in CrossFit if:
You have no experience with CrossFit.
You tried to follow a YouTube video.
You have an existing injury and went ahead to workout.
You are trying to impress somebody in the gym.
You train CrossFit only once/twice a month.
You do not listen to your coach.
Accident happens *touch wood.
Fitness is a lifelong journey and should be viewed as something we need, like food. You do not have to take your training too seriously, unless you're training to be an athlete. Instead focus on getting your body primed for any condition or situation life throws at you. That is fitness to us.
